Traveling is an experience, and we all want to experience something different from our travels. When we travel with family, we bond, and we experience the love and care and fun that we can have with each other. But when we travel solo, it helps us connect with ourselves. In order to learn and connect with the deep emotions we have, we need some alone time, and traveling can give that too.

Now, for your first solo travel, you can choose tons of destinations. In this blog, we will talk about one destination that literally everyone wants to travel to once- India.

India, a mystical land known for its hospitality and cuisine, and culture are more than that. It is a land where you can find mountains, deserts, beaches, tropical lands, an island, and every possible thing. The beauty of this place is that it has tons of beautiful and hidden gems in its regional areas, and witnessing them is a blessing in itself.

So, plan a trip to India, and make sure you have a plan. Traveling to any city or country solo with knowledge of what it may hold is not a great idea. So, here is an ultimate guide to help you plan your solo trip to India.

1. Get your documents in order

This one is a no-brainer, but if you are visiting an international destination, make sure your passport is in order. After that, apply for a visa in advance and make sure you get it on time.

Also, get travel insurance as it can come in handy if you have to see a doctor or so in India.

2. Book your tickets and hotel in advance

Create an itinerary of all the places you want to see in India, and book your tickets and hotel in advance. The flight tickets to India won’t be cheap, so make sure you keep a check on them and book them at least a month or two in advance.

There are tons of 3-star hotels in India with great services. If you are planning to eat the local food and spend most days sight-seeing, spending on a big 5 or 7-star hotel is a waste of money.

So, do your research and find the best hotel as per your preference. But do it before you land there, especially if you are going in the peak season.

3. Create a checklist

Before traveling to any destination, it is wise to create a checklist of all the places you want to see, adventure sports you want to do, and so on.

Also, the checklist can help you make sure you pack all the essentials like medicines, sunglasses, your medical files, and so on.

A checklist created using Canva can ensure that you are prepared for any situation and have everything you ever want while on a trip.

4. Eat at local places

One of the best pieces of advice that I can give you is to eat like a local when in India. Don’t opt for continental or Italian cuisine. Go for Indian cuisine, they are fabulous and they can dial back the spices for you.

5. Be safe

Just like any city, India can be a little unsafe for solo travelers. So, make sure you have helpline numbers of Police and carry other safety measures too.

6. Get your flu shot

Before you go to India, get all your flu shots if you don’t want to risk getting sick on your vacation. Moreover, drink packaged water only, as the tap water may not suit you, and you can end up getting diarrhea. Bottled water is easily available and cheap as well.

7. Places to see

India has so much to see that you can do it one trip. Also, you need at least 15-30 days of vacation time to see at least 1/4th of India. To see beautiful temples and fort, North India and South India are perfect. For snow and mountains and doing trekking and hiking, Shimla and Kasol, and Kashmir are your perfect destination.

For a little beach ride, Goa and Kerala are amazing. Also, every city has something different to offer, so you need to do complete research before heading out.

8. Don’t miscalculate the heat

India is a hot and humid country, and most of the country experiences heat for approximately six months. So, if you can plan your trip between October to February, they are better months.

But if you do in summers, pack loose clothes, have your sun-glasses, carry water everywhere, because to truly see India, you will have to walk a lot. India is an amazing place; you cannot expect to see it fully at a single time. So, pick one area and enjoy it thoroughly.
