Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1
Mumbai to Kochi Flight, Fort Kochi Arrival
A morning departure from CSMIA Terminal 2 lands at Kochi International Airport around midday, and our driver meets you at arrivals with a name placard and chilled water. The transfer to Fort Kochi takes 45 to 55 minutes depending on NH 66 traffic near Aluva. After check in and lunch, spend the afternoon at walking pace covering the Chinese fishing nets on Vasco da Gama Square at golden hour, St Francis Church with the original burial site of Vasco da Gama, and the Paradesi Synagogue at Jew Town, open until four. Overnight in Kochi.

DAY 2
Kochi City Half Day, Drive to Munnar
Breakfast at the hotel, then a short drive to Mattancherry for the Dutch Palace murals depicting the Ramayana in Kerala mural style. The spice market lanes selling cardamom, black pepper, and clove make a good souvenir stop for Mumbai kitchens. By 11 am, begin the 130 km drive to Munnar via Muvattupuzha and Adimali, with a lunch stop at a Kerala meals restaurant midway. The road climbs steadily after Neriamangalam, reaching the tea slopes by 4 pm. Evening walk to the town market. Overnight in Munnar.

DAY 3
Full Day Munnar Sightseeing
An early breakfast, then the day belongs to the hills. Eravikulam National Park opens at 7 am and Nilgiri Tahr sightings are best in the first slot, so aim for the 8 am shuttle. The itinerary then rolls through Mattupetty Dam, Kundala Lake pedal boats, Echo Point, and Top Station for views into Tamil Nadu. Lunch is Kerala parotta with beef fry or vegetable stew. Afternoon includes a working tea factory visit at Lockhart or KDHP explaining the plucking, withering, rolling, and drying stages. Overnight in Munnar.

DAY 4
Munnar to Thekkady with Spice Country
After breakfast, descend from Munnar to Thekkady, a 110 km drive of about four hours through cardamom hills. A stop at a spice plantation en route lets you walk under vanilla vines, cardamom shrubs, clove trees, and nutmeg pods with a local planter. Lunch at Kumily just before Thekkady, followed by resort check in. Afternoon drive to Periyar Tiger Reserve for the government boat cruise, spotting elephant, sambar, gaur, and birds. Evening optional Kathakali performance with makeup demonstration before the story piece. Overnight in Thekkady.

DAY 5
Thekkady to Alleppey Houseboat
Breakfast at the resort, then a 140 km drive from Thekkady to Alleppey via Kottayam, arriving at the jetty by lunch. Boarding at Punnamada is streamlined, and by noon your private houseboat begins the cruise through the Vembanad canals. Lunch on board covers rice, sambar, avial, thoran, karimeen fish fry, and payasam. Spend the afternoon watching backwater village life unfold, with children on the bunds and toddy tappers on the palms. Tea on the open deck at four, then sunset over paddy fields. Overnight on houseboat.

DAY 6
Alleppey to Kochi Airport, Return Flight to Mumbai
An early breakfast on the houseboat as the mist lifts off Vembanad Lake, then disembark at Punnamada jetty by 9 am. The 85 km drive to Kochi International takes about 90 minutes on the newly widened highway, comfortably placing you at the terminal three hours before an afternoon or early evening Mumbai bound flight. Landing back at CSMIA by early evening, most travellers reach Andheri, BKC, or Powai residences before dinner, which is one of the biggest practical advantages of a Kerala break from Mumbai.
