Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1
Frankfurt or Munich to Delhi (Arrival and Rest)
Board your overnight Lufthansa or Air India sector from Frankfurt or Munich to Delhi, roughly 8 hours 15 minutes in the air. Land at Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 3 in the early morning. Our English speaking representative meets you at the arrivals gate with a name board and hands over your travel kit, printed itinerary and Indian SIM. Transfer 25 minutes to your 4 star Aerocity hotel for a shower, a slow buffet breakfast and a compulsory rest half day. Optional afternoon Old Delhi drive covering Jama Masjid exterior and Chandni Chowk if energy permits. Otherwise, sleep off the time shift. Yatra registration paperwork completed at the front desk. Overnight in Delhi.

DAY 2
Delhi to Haridwar
After breakfast, check out and drive to Haridwar via NH 334, roughly 5 to 5.5 hours across 220 kilometres with a lunch halt at Cheetal Grand near Khatauli, a legacy dhaba favoured by hill drivers. Check in to your 3 or 4 star Haridwar hotel by late afternoon. Rest for two hours, then walk to Har Ki Pauri for the Ganga Aarti at sunset, one of the most photographed ritual moments in the Char Dham prelude. Return to the hotel for dinner. Overnight in Haridwar. This first hill town day is deliberately light on driving to keep the previous night’s international jet lag out of the yatra proper.

DAY 3
Haridwar to Barkot via Mussoorie
Early breakfast and depart by 7 am for Barkot via Mussoorie and Dhamsala, roughly 200 kilometres across 7 hours of ghat road. Tea stop at Mussoorie for a walk on the Mall Road and a lunch halt at the Kempty Falls area. The road narrows past Nowgaon; expect the last hour to feel long on winding turns. Check in at your Barkot hotel by evening. Barkot sits at 1,220 metres, a comfortable overnight altitude before the Yamunotri trek. Dinner at hotel. Prepare walking gear, water bottles and light waterproofs for tomorrow. Overnight in Barkot.

DAY 4
Yamunotri Darshan and Return to Barkot
Depart 5.30 am for Janki Chatti, the trek trailhead, roughly 45 minutes drive from Barkot. The Yamunotri temple sits 6 kilometres uphill from Janki Chatti; walk, pony or palki options work depending on fitness level. Darshan of the Goddess Yamuna and a dip at the Surya Kund hot spring where rice is cooked as prasad. Return trek to Janki Chatti by early afternoon, then drive back to Barkot. Late lunch on arrival at the hotel. Rest evening; the calves will thank you tomorrow. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Barkot.

DAY 5
Barkot to Uttarkashi
Breakfast at hotel and check out by 8.30 am. Drive to Uttarkashi via Radi top and Purola, roughly 100 kilometres across 4.5 hours of pine forested ghat road. Uttarkashi sits at 1,158 metres on the Bhagirathi river and serves as the base camp for Gangotri. Lunch halt at a local eatery along the way. Check in at your 3 or 4 star Uttarkashi hotel by mid afternoon. Optional evening walk to Vishwanath temple in the old town, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas venerated in the region, followed by a short river ghat visit. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Uttarkashi.

DAY 6
Gangotri Darshan and Return to Uttarkashi
Early breakfast and depart 6.30 am for Gangotri, roughly 100 kilometres and 4.5 hours through the Harsil valley, one of the most cinematic stretches on the full Char Dham route. Gangotri temple sits at 3,100 metres. Darshan and puja at the temple, followed by a walk to the Bhagirathi Shila and Gaurikund waterfall. Packed veg lunch en route. Return drive to Uttarkashi by evening. Long day on the vehicle; the same driver stays with you throughout for continuity. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Uttarkashi.

DAY 7
Uttarkashi to Guptkashi
After breakfast, begin the long transfer to Guptkashi via Tehri and Rudraprayag, roughly 230 kilometres across 9 hours of hill driving. This is the longest single day drive on the yatra. Lunch stop at the Tehri Dam viewpoint. Guptkashi sits at 1,319 metres and is the road head base for the Kedarnath sector. Check in by evening. Handover of your Kedarnath helicopter voucher if you have opted for the flight version, or a final trek briefing if you have chosen the walking route. Dinner and early rest. Overnight in Guptkashi.

DAY 8
Kedarnath Darshan
Two options apply on this day. For helicopter travellers, transfer to Phata helipad at 6 am for the 8 minute flight to Kedarnath, temple darshan on arrival, and the return flight the same afternoon; back at Guptkashi hotel by evening. For trek travellers, drive to Sonprayag and Gaurikund, take the shared jeep to the trek starting point, then 16 kilometres uphill on the trail with pony and palki options available at every kilometre. Kedarnath temple sits at 3,583 metres. Overnight in a Kedarnath GMVN or private tent for trek travellers, or back at Guptkashi for helicopter travellers.

DAY 9
Guptkashi or Kedarnath to Badrinath
For trek travellers, descend from Kedarnath in the morning and drive to Badrinath. For helicopter travellers, direct drive from Guptkashi to Badrinath via Joshimath. The road covers roughly 190 kilometres across 8 to 9 hours through Chamoli district. Two military checkpoints and a mandatory tea halt at Joshimath. Badrinath sits at 3,133 metres on the Alaknanda river. Check in at your Badrinath hotel and stretch. Evening darshan at the Badrinath temple with the Tapt Kund hot spring dip beforehand. Dinner and overnight in Badrinath.

DAY 10
Badrinath Morning Darshan and Mana Village
Early morning darshan at Badrinath temple, which runs quieter than the evening slot. After breakfast, drive 3 kilometres to Mana village, the last inhabited settlement before the Indo Tibet border. Walk to Vyas Gufa where the Mahabharata is said to have been dictated, Bhim Pul over the Saraswati river, and a chai stop at Bharat Ki Aakhri Dukaan. Return to Badrinath for lunch. Optional afternoon rest or a short walk to Charan Paduka viewpoint. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Badrinath.

DAY 11
Badrinath to Rishikesh
Depart Badrinath after breakfast for Rishikesh via Joshimath, Karnaprayag, Rudraprayag and Devprayag, roughly 300 kilometres across 10 hours. This is the day the Panch Prayag confluence sightings become the main visual, and short stops are built in at each of the sacred river meets. Lunch halt at Srinagar in Uttarakhand. Check in at your Rishikesh hotel by evening. Optional Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan on the ghat, a gentler closing note to the yatra. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Rishikesh.

DAY 12
Rishikesh to Delhi and Fly to Germany
Morning at leisure. Optional early walk across Ram Jhula or Laxman Jhula. After breakfast, check out and drive to Delhi via Haridwar, roughly 240 kilometres across 6 hours. Lunch halt en route. Airport drop at IGI Terminal 3 in the evening for the return Lufthansa or Air India flight to Frankfurt or Munich. Post trip email follow up on photographs, reviews and your next India route.
