Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1
Amsterdam to Delhi, Arrival and Recovery Night
Board the KLM nonstop from Schiphol to Delhi, roughly eight hours in the air. Landing in the mid-afternoon at IGI Terminal 3, our English-speaking representative meets you outside arrivals with a name board and cold water, then hands over the trip kit including the Char Dham registration card and SIM card if pre-ordered. Transfer to your Delhi hotel, roughly 45 minutes depending on traffic. The rest of the day is deliberately kept light for jet lag recovery and to adjust to the three and a half hour IST shift from CET. Dinner is a gentle North Indian vegetarian menu at the hotel. Overnight in Delhi.

DAY 2
Delhi to Haridwar by Road
After a relaxed breakfast, drive from Delhi to Haridwar via the new Delhi to Dehradun expressway, roughly five hours across 220 kilometres. Lunch stop en route at a highway restaurant of the driver’s recommendation. Check in to your Haridwar hotel by mid-afternoon. In the evening, walk down to Har Ki Pauri for the Ganga Aarti at sunset, an unhurried first exposure to Hindu pilgrimage ritual that Dutch first-time visitors consistently rate as the trip’s most quietly powerful moment. Overnight in Haridwar.

DAY 3
Haridwar to Barkot via Mussoorie
After breakfast, drive from Haridwar to Barkot via Dehradun and Mussoorie, roughly seven hours across 210 kilometres of gently climbing road. Short photo halts at Kempty Falls if traffic permits. Barkot sits at about 1,220 metres, low enough for comfortable sleep and high enough to begin the altitude adjustment. Check in and rest. Dinner at hotel with the driver briefing on the next day’s Yamunotri trek logistics. Overnight in Barkot.

DAY 4
Yamunotri Darshan and Return to Barkot
Early breakfast and drive to Janki Chatti, roughly 45 kilometres and one and a half hours. From there, a six-kilometre trek uphill to Yamunotri Temple at 3,293 metres, achievable on foot for average fitness levels, or by pony, doli or porter for those who prefer. The temple sits beside a thermal spring where rice is cooked in the traditional pilgrimage manner. Return trek to Janki Chatti, drive back to Barkot by evening. Overnight in Barkot.

DAY 5
Barkot to Uttarkashi
Breakfast and check out. Drive from Barkot to Uttarkashi, roughly four and a half hours across 100 kilometres of winding hill road. Uttarkashi sits at about 1,165 metres on the Bhagirathi. Check in by early afternoon. Optional evening visit to Vishwanath Temple in the town centre and a quiet walk along the river ghats. Early dinner, given the next day’s early departure. Overnight in Uttarkashi.

DAY 6
Gangotri Darshan and Return to Uttarkashi
Early breakfast and drive to Gangotri, roughly 100 kilometres and three and a half hours through Harsil valley. Gangotri Temple sits at 3,100 metres beside the Bhagirathi. Darshan, a few minutes at Gaurikund and Suryakund pools, and lunch at a local dhaba. Drive back to Uttarkashi by evening. This day is long on the vehicle but keeps the overnight at a safer altitude. Overnight in Uttarkashi.

DAY 7
Uttarkashi to Guptkashi
Breakfast and check out. The drive from Uttarkashi to Guptkashi is the longest single day on the circuit, roughly ten hours across 220 kilometres through Tehri, Ghansali and Tilwara. Lunch stop en route. Guptkashi at 1,319 metres is the staging town for Kedarnath. Check in, early dinner, brief on the next day’s Kedarnath plan including helicopter timing if booked. Overnight in Guptkashi.

DAY 8
Kedarnath Darshan (Trek or Helicopter)
Early morning transfer to Sonprayag and shuttle to Gaurikund for the 18-kilometre trek to Kedarnath at 3,583 metres. Ponies, dolis and porters available at Gaurikund. Helicopter travellers fly from Phata or Sirsi, roughly seven minutes each way. Darshan at the temple, a quiet hour on the Mandakini bank, and overnight at a modest GMVN or private guest house at Kedarnath. Netherlands travellers with any cardiac history strongly advised to choose the helicopter option. Overnight in Kedarnath.

DAY 9
Kedarnath to Badrinath via Joshimath
Return trek or helicopter from Kedarnath to Guptkashi in the morning. Drive to Badrinath via Joshimath, roughly seven hours across 210 kilometres. Chopta pass views if weather is clear. Reach Badrinath by evening, check in, and rest. Optional visit to Mana village, the last Indian village before the Tibet border, if daylight remains. Overnight in Badrinath.

DAY 10
Badrinath Darshan and Drive to Rudraprayag
Early morning Badrinath darshan at 3,133 metres, followed by a visit to Tapt Kund thermal spring and Vyas Gufa at Mana. After breakfast, drive from Badrinath to Rudraprayag, roughly five hours across 160 kilometres, along the Alaknanda through Karnaprayag and Nandaprayag. Rudraprayag at 895 metres offers a comfortable low-altitude night before the long descent to Delhi. Overnight in Rudraprayag.

DAY 11
Rudraprayag to Delhi and KLM Return
After an early breakfast, drive from Rudraprayag to Delhi via Rishikesh and the Dehradun expressway, roughly nine hours. Airport drop at IGI Terminal 3 for the KLM return sector to Amsterdam.
