Overview

Grab your bags and prepare to ride to the very core of Rajasthan, where the golden deserts roll near and far and where life is ultimately ruled by the sound of the camel bells. It is not just a vacation, it is an Indian adventure cruise through the colorful culture of the Indian desert, adventure, tradition, and memorable moments of the Rajasthan Jaisalmer Camel Safari tours.

We begin in Delhi, where history comes in contact with modern life. You will then go through attractive towns such as Mandawa, Bikaner and the enchanted city of Jaisalmer which is known as the Golden City. However, the best experience of the tour is your multi day camel safari in the beautiful Thar desert. Here, you will ride through small villages, sand dunes, and remote places that the tourists hardly ever get the time to visit.

In the Jaisalmer camel safari tours, you will stay in cozy desert camps, eat traditional Rajasthani meals that are prepared using fire, enjoy folk music and dance under the sky filled with stars. You will receive a warm welcome from the people, explore ancient temples and also learn about the villages buried in the sands such as the ancient lost village of Kuldhara or the quiet oasis of Jeseiri.

You will visit the royal forts of Jodhpur, go on a village safari to the environmentally-friendly Bishnoi community, and conclude this trip at the colourful city of Jaipur where you will find magnificent palaces and markets. You will also have an opportunity to ride the elephants in Jaipur.

The tour is ideal in a way that one gets a taste of everything; adventure, culture, local life, history, and fun. It might be your first or the tenth time in India, but it will be a new story filled with beautiful sights, and a touch of the soul of Rajasthan. The Jaisalmer Camel Safari Tour will give you an experience for life, one camel ride at a time.

Best time to Visit Camel Safari Tour

The best season to arrange and visit your Rajasthan Camel Safari Tour and especially Jaisalmer Camel Safari tours is during the winter season that lasts between October and March. This is considered to be the most agreeable and tourist friendly season in Rajasthan particularly in outdoor desert tours. The climate at this time of year is cool, crisp and dry.  Hence, the daytime rides on the camels through the large golden sand dunes and the evening plans such as folk shows, campfire dinners and staying in the dark sky are all perfect.

During the day, the weather is pleasant with a temperature of between 24o C and 30o C although it is warm, whereas the nights are cool with temperatures of between 10o C and 15o C, forming the ideal environment in hosting cultural events and peaceful rest in the desert camps. Unlike in the hot summer, the winter sun is cool and travelers need not worry about getting tired and dehydrated; they can explore the Thar Desert, as well as its neighbourhood attractions such as the Jaisalmer Fort, Kuldhara village, and the Bishnoi tribal region.

Also, the winter of Rajasthan hosts several cultural and traditional festivals, including Desert Festival in Jaisalmer, Pushkar Camel Fair and Jaipur Literature Festival which can also be combined with your camel safari tour to make your experience complete and worthwhile. The festivals are a demonstration of the rich heritage, music, dance, and cuisine of Rajasthan and will provide you with an abundant cultural experience.

One should avoid visiting during the period between April and June, because summer temperatures may go up to 45 degrees Celsius.  Traveling to Rajasthan during this time will be unpleasant and even dangerous because of the chances of heatstroke and dehydration. The July to September monsoon seasons have occasional rains and it might interfere with the traveling plans and the quality of desert tours.

To have the best mix of weather, culture, photography and familiarization with the locals, winter is the most recommendable time of year to carry out this desert adventure.
