Guwahati, Shillong, Cherrapunjee, Smit Village, Shillong, Guwahati
Day 01: New Delhi - Kolkata - Guwahati - Shillong
Pick up from the Guwahati airport by car for a drive to Shillong popularly known as the Scotland of the East. It is at a distance of 131km from Guwahati, or a 3.5 hours drive along winding roads through breathtaking scenery. We ride through the roads to reach the Royal Heritage Tripura Castle, which is the summer getaway of the Maharajas of Tripura's Manikya dynasty. The gate, shaped like a horse shoe that symbolizes good luck, is a royal tradition to mark the entrances. The distinctive blend of European and Oriental influence is a unique feature of the castle. It has 10 well furnished rooms which are equipped with satellite TV, video and internet, beautiful pieces of furniture chosen with great care and an enchanting fire places, making it a romantic getaway for a king. Spectacular views of the snow covered mountains can be seen from the windows on clear winter mornings. The amazing hospitality is made complete by the touch of history and nostalgia which comes automatically with the place. We will spend the night here like royalty.
Day 02: Shillong - Cherrapunjee - Shillong
We start the day at 7.30am with a trip to Cherrapunjee, touted as the wettest place on Earth! Also planned for the day is a visit to Shillong peak, the Elephanta and Nohkalikai falls, Mousamai cave and the Ramakrishna mission. After the eventful day, we return back to Shillong where we tour the markets and the Malls. We're back at the hotel by 7.00pm and spend the night at the Castle again.
Day 03: Shillong - Smit Village - Shillong
At 8.00am we leave for the Smit Village. We also visit the village Shnonh Pdeng. Next we take a walk to the Sacred Groves and also visit the Living root bridges in East Khasi Hills. Get a taste of the local cuisine at lunch, after which we visit Pyrnursla, a village famous for its betel nut leaves. We return to the castle by 7.00pm where we stay for the night.
Day 04: Shillong - Guwahati
Following breakfast we journey back to Guwahati and check in at the Coronate Dynasty Hotel. After lunch we visit the Kamakhya Temple. In the evening, take a cruise on the Brahmaputra River. Spend the night at the hotel.
Day 05: Guwahati - Kolkata - New Delhi
After breakfast, we depart for the Guwahati airport.
