Kerala is an ancient land that is filled history, heritage and culture. On the Heritage Tour of Kerala we will dive into the rich past of this paradise on earth.
Our Trip includes places like Calicut, which tempted sailors and kingdoms for centuries together, Mahe, the epicentre of Kerala's culture, dance and folklore, Wyannad, the archaeological haven of Kerala and much more. DAY BY DAY ITINERARY
Day 01: Calicut
On arrival at the Calicut Airport you will be greeted by a representative of Memorable India after which you will be assisted in your transfer to the hotel. The entire day is free for exploring the lush and lively beaches of this fantastic city. These waters have a history of attracting sailors from all over the world. Allured by the pungent fragrance of spices, some of the most renowned personalities such as Vasco Da Gama were attracted to the lands of Calicut. After a lazy and fun filled day we retire for an overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 02: Calicut
Today we visit Calicut's oldest port and Asia's largest wood market, Beypore. It is also home to the traditional ship making industry, a fascinating craft to observe. The craftsmen in this region have been making the Marakalam's, the traditional boat since the 18th century. After an enthralling day at the market, stop for an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03: Calicut - Mahe
We set out for Mahe, the cultural hub of Kerala. After we reach our destination we check in to the fabulous hotel on the shores of the Arabian Sea. The afternoon is reserved for a tour of the beautiful fort and the mosque in Mahe. After that we retire for the night at the hotel.
Day 04: Mahe
We finally get to witness the true essence of culture and art in Kerala. We visit the Kerala Traditional Dance Centre where we see the Thayum and KalariPati unravel in front of our eyes. After a culturally rich day, we retreat to our hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 05: Mahe - Wayanad
We set out early for the beautiful plains of Wayanad. Here we stay at an eco-friendly resort that is surrounded by lush greenery. Get a chance to experience the exotic sights and sounds of the region and explore these lands with an exciting elephant ride. If you love bird watching and trekking, Wayanad is the place for you. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 06: Wayanad
We set out early to a tribal village and visit the tribal museum. After that, we head for a 4km trek to the ancient caves that shed light upon the Stone Age in India. After that exhilarating experience we head for a night camp in the resort after which we shall start for Cheruthuruthy.
Day 07: Cheruthuruthy
We set out for Cheruthuruthy, home to the Natya Kala Mandalam, the school of traditional art and dance. After this we head to interact with some talented porters and weavers of the regions who have a reputation for being dextrous and producing cloth and pottery that are delicate, ornate and have no match in the world.
Day 08: Cochin
Today we head to Cochin, one of the busiest and most important ports in western India. Not only is it a vital cultural hub, Kochi also has a history of culture and is a rich oasis of heritage. Over the years, Cochin has come in contact with diverse cultures like the Portugese, Dutch, Arabs, Chinese and British and as a result, the city has some spectacular monuments and heritage sites worthy of a visit. We start off by visiting the Fort Cochin after which we visit the Synagogue, which is the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth. We also visit Mattancherry Palace, Chinese Fishing Nets, and Saint Francis Church. The evening is filled with a brilliant performance of Kathakalli after which we retire to the hotel for a night's stay.
Day 9: Cochinn - Alleppey (House Boat)
We drive to Alleppey, where the houseboat awaits you. Spend the entire day cruising through the peaceful waters of Kerala and watch the day go by. We spend the night in the house boat.
Day 10: Alleppey - Kovalam
We disembark the house boat at Thottapally and head to Kovalam via road. On the way we visit the ancient temple of Subramaniam, the Lord of Serpents which houses 500 snake statues! For the night, we shall stay at the hotel.
Day 11: Kovalam
Today we relax and the entire day is left free to pamper yourself. Unwind with the relaxing Ayurvedic massage and indulge into some world class spa treatments. Some more rest awaits you at the hotel where we will spend the night.
Day 12: Kovalam - Trivandrum
We bid you adieu and transfer you to the airport or railway station and wish you a safe onward journey.
