Overview

The city of Aurangabad was founded by Malik Ambar in 1610. The city got its current name in the year 1653 the same time that the ruler there named Aurangzeb named it the capital of the Deccan Empire. This is a city that has seen several dynasties rise and fall each with its own culture. The City is near other small historic towns such as Khultabad, Pitalkore and Paithan. There is also a 50,000 years old crater here that you will not want to miss seeing. This City got its name from the ruler called Aurangzeb but formerly it was called Khadke.
