Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1
Italy to Kochi (Arrival)
Most Italian travellers depart Rome Fiumicino or Milan Malpensa by evening on a Qatar Airways, Emirates, or Etihad flight routed through Doha, Dubai, or Abu Dhabi. Arrival at Kochi International Airport (COK) usually lands mid-morning the next day. Our driver meets you at the arrivals gate with a name-board and transfers you to Fort Kochi, roughly a 45-minute drive. Check-in is arranged for early access so you can rest through the afternoon and reset the 3.5-hour time difference. An unhurried evening walk along the Fort Kochi seafront near the Chinese fishing nets works well as first orientation. Overnight in Fort Kochi.

DAY 2
Kochi Sightseeing
After breakfast, meet your English-speaking Fort Kochi guide for a walking circuit through Mattancherry Palace, the Paradesi Synagogue in Jew Town, St Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was first buried, and the Chinese fishing nets during their morning lift. Italian travellers often connect emotionally with the Portuguese-era buildings, since much of Fort Kochi’s architectural vocabulary shares roots with Mediterranean colonial layouts. Lunch is at a curated Kerala restaurant, with a mild fish curry and appam standard. Afternoon is left free for a Kathakali performance in the evening, or a quiet backwater sunset cruise from Marine Drive. Overnight in Kochi.

DAY 3
Kochi to Munnar (Approx 4.5 hours, 130 km)
Depart Kochi after breakfast and drive east into the Western Ghats. The road climbs steadily past Neriamangalam and Adimali, and Italian travellers often compare the ascent to a longer, greener version of the Aosta Valley approach. Stop at Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls for photographs and coffee. Enter Munnar’s tea belt around lunchtime; the visual shift into rolling tea slopes is one of the trip’s headline moments. Check into a hillside resort with tea estate views. The afternoon is free to acclimatise to the 1,600-metre altitude and cooler air. An optional early-evening walk through the KDHP tea estate perimeter is available. Overnight in Munnar.

DAY 4
Munnar Sightseeing
Full-day guided sightseeing across Munnar’s headline stops. Morning covers Eravikulam National Park to spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, followed by Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point. Afternoon includes the Tea Museum at KDHP with a live processing demo and a curated tasting flight of Munnar single-estate teas. Photography opportunities are strong at Kundala Lake and along the winding roads back to town. Italian couples often add a spice garden visit near Devikulam. Evenings in Munnar are cool near 15 degrees Celsius; a fleece layer helps. Families with children under 10 get lighter pacing on request. Overnight in Munnar.

DAY 5
Munnar to Thekkady (Approx 3.5 hours, 90 km)
Breakfast, then drive south through spice country to Thekkady, home of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The road winds through cardamom, black pepper, and clove plantations. Check into a hotel near the sanctuary edge. The afternoon runs at Periyar Lake for the state boat safari, where sightings can include elephants, sambar, gaur, and, if lucky, a wild boar family at the shoreline. Evenings in Thekkady are quieter than Munnar; an optional Kalaripayattu martial arts demonstration or a Kathakali show fills the slot well. Dinner at leisure. Overnight in Thekkady.

DAY 6
Thekkady to Alleppey Houseboat (Approx 4 hours, 140 km)
Morning transfer to Alleppey and check-in on your private houseboat by around 12:30 pm. The houseboat is fully licensed with an air-conditioned bedroom, private washroom, and an onboard chef who prepares Kerala-style meals through the day. The vessel cruises the Kuttanad backwater belt, past paddy fields sitting below sea level, coconut groves, and lived-in village jetties. Lunch is served onboard: usually rice, fish curry, thoran, and pappadam. The cruise anchors by early evening in a quiet channel; local birdlife peaks around sunset. Dinner is a Kerala thali or a fresh catch grill on request. Overnight aboard.

DAY 7
Alleppey to Kovalam (Approx 4 hours, 160 km)
Disembark after breakfast around 9 am. Drive south along the coastal road to Kovalam, Kerala’s most established beach town. Check into a Kovalam Beach resort with lighthouse or sea views. The afternoon is free for the Arabian Sea beachfront: Lighthouse Beach and Hawa Beach for swimming, Samudra Beach for quieter time. Italian travellers often find Kovalam’s cove-and-headland geography reminiscent of parts of Sardinia or the Cinque Terre, though warmer year-round. An optional evening ayurveda treatment, typically a 60-minute traditional oil massage, sets the tone. Dinner at a beachfront restaurant. Overnight in Kovalam.

DAY 8
Kovalam to Trivandrum Airport, Departure
Breakfast at leisure. A morning walk along Lighthouse Beach or a final ayurveda session works well as a soft close before departure. Check-out is at 12:00 noon. Transfer to Trivandrum International Airport (TRV), approximately 45 minutes from Kovalam, in time for a late afternoon or evening Gulf-hub connection back to Rome or Milan. Total journey time back to Italy usually runs 15 to 18 hours including the layover. Our Kochi desk stays available on WhatsApp through the flight until you land back home. This closing structure lets Italian travellers land back in Europe rested rather than jetlagged twice over.
