      AIRPORT – SIGIRIYA – APPROX 04.30 HRS DRIVE

      Upon arrival at the airport in Sri Lanka, you will be warmly greeted by our representatives. Start your journey to Sigiriya by stopping at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage en route.

      Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage: It is a sanctuary for rescued and abandoned elephants; this facility is beloved by locals and tourists alike. It is known for its successful breeding program and offers visitors the chance to witness these majestic giants’ feeding and bathing sessions, which are the most popular times to spot them.

      Continue your drive to Sigiriya, and in the evening, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla. It is located about 148 kilometres east of Colombo and 72 kilometres north of Kandy. This temple is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring murals and statues within its sacred rock caves.

      SIGIRIYA - KANDY – APPROX 03 HRS DRIVE

      After enjoying breakfast, hike to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, often referred to as the 8th Wonder of the World. It was built by King Kassapa in the 5th century and has become a major tourist attraction in Sri Lanka. This ancient fortress is renowned for its innovative architecture and engineering, water gardens, and frescoes, all nestled atop a massive rock column.

      Head to the hill capital of Kandy, stopping en route in Matale at Spice Gardens. Learn about the spices that have been cultivated in Sri Lanka for generations and continue to be a celebrated export, as well as understand their uses in cuisine and traditional medicine.

      After visiting Kandy, first, visit a Gem Gallery to discover Sri Lanka’s rich gemstone heritage. Continue your exploration of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya, which is known for its vast orchid collection and scenic landscape near the Mahaweli River. In 2016, this garden was visited by 1.2 million locals and 400,000 foreign visitors.

      KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA – APPROX 03 HRS DRIVE

      After breakfast, enjoy the Kandy city tour, the last kingdom of the Sinhalese. Start your day by visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa), one of the most venerated sites for Buddhists, which is said to house the sacred tooth of Lord Buddha. Drive along Upper Lake Drive and stop by the stunning and vibrant Market Square to shop for local crafts and souvenirs.

      Proceed to Nuwara Eliya, also known as ‘Little England.’ Don’t miss the Ramboda Waterfalls and tea plantation and factory en route to experience the art of tea-making firsthand. 

      In the afternoon, explore the charming colonial town of Nuwara Eliya. With its cool climate, Tudor-style buildings, and neatly trimmed gardens, the town feels like a piece of England in Sri Lanka. Perched 6200 feet above sea level, this century-old town is home to the magnificent Grand Hotel, and the old golf course contributes to the nostalgic atmosphere.

      Sita Amman Temple: 

      Visit Sita Amman Temple, a striking example of temple architecture with vibrant structure and intricate design. One side of the temple features an ancient Lord Rama and Sita statue, adding to its spiritual charm. Today, the temple is a modern building adorned with colourful paintings, detailed sculptures, and carved pillars that beautifully narrate the timeless tale of Rama and Sita.

      Gregory Lake, Nuwara Eliya:

      Next, explore Gregory Lake, nestled in the heart of Nuwara Eliya’s tea country. Built in 1873, during the rule of British Governor Sir William Gregory, it was named Gregory Lake or Gregory Reservoir. This man-made lake man-made lake has become a scenic highlight of the region. Surrounded by lush greenery and gentle hills, the lake and its environs offer you a tranquil setting for a leisurely stroll and enjoy boat rides and picnics. 

      Victoria Park, Nuwara Eliya: 

      Located next to the post office of Nuwara Eliya, Victoria Park is an awe-inspiring well, well-maintained public park steeped in rich history. Once used as a research field for the Hakgala Botanical Garden, it was officially named in 1897 in honour of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. Today, this park stands as a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle and is ideal for birdwatching and nature walks amidst blooming flowers.

      NUWARA ELIYA - BENTOTA – APPROX 05.30 HRS DRIVE

      After breakfast, visit the Hakgala Botanical Gardens, also known as Ashok Vatika. 

      Hakgala Botanical Garden: This garden is steeped in the Ramayana legend as the place where Sita was kept by Ravana. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed Hanuman met her here and offered to rescue her, but she refused, saying it would be an insult to Rama’s honour if she did so. It is also said that Lord Hanuman almost destroyed it to prove Ravana of the forces against him, but a part of this majestic garden still exists. 

      Continue your journey to Bentota via Kitulgala. For adventure seekers, Kitulgala offers white-water rafting on the Kelani River. Covering five major and four minor rapids, this 5km adrenaline-pumping experience comes with professional guidance, safety equipment, and scenic views. For those preferring a relaxed route, the area also offers beautiful surroundings and peaceful nature walks.

      Arrive in Bentota, check in at the hotel, taste the local delicacies for Dinner, relax and stay overnight.

      BENTOTA - GALLE CITY TOUR & BENTOTA CITY TOUR

      After enjoying breakfast, travel to Galle to explore the historic Galle Fort.

      The Heritage City of Galle: Originally built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch and preserved by the British. Battered daily for over 400 years by the ocean, this coastal fortress has survived centuries of invasions and natural disasters, including a tsunami. Its charming cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and ocean views make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

      After that, begin your Benota local city tour. 

      Bentota: Bentota is known for its coastal beauty and rich biodiversity. Birdwatchers will find various species, including rare ones like the Indian Heron and vegetation along the river harbours. This is an ideal location to include in various interesting Sri Lanka sightseeing tours because of its Turtle Hatchery, Madu River Boat trips on Bentota River, etc. 

      Madu River Boat Ride: Take a boat ride on the Madu River, where you can explore mangrove forests and observe the vibrant ecosystem. The river hosts dozens of fish species, reptiles, butterflies, and over 100 species of birds, including migratory types. About 11 agnatic mollusks and 14 land-dwelling mollusks species are found in this system. Along with this, the region is home to about 70 species of fish, 31 kinds of reptiles, about 50 types of butterflies, and more that inhabit this abundantly bustling ecosystem. For birdwatchers, this place is no less than heaven, with over 111 species of birds and has been known to host several types of migratory birds. 

      Turtle Hatchery at Kosgoda: Also visit the Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda, a dedicated conservation project working to protect endangered sea turtles. Learn about their life cycle and the efforts made to rehabilitate and release them into the ocean.

      Head back to the hotel, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight in Bentota.

      BENTOTA - COLOMBO - AIRPORT - APPROX 03.30 HRS DRIVE

      After breakfast, transfer to Colombo and enjoy a scenic ride. Upon arrival, enjoy a city tour and some shopping before winding up your trip. 

      Colombo is the island’s bustling commercial capital, offering a mix of colonial charm and modern energy. Walk through tree-lined streets and admire colonial-era buildings, corporate buildings, restaurants, shopping malls, spas, hotels and nightclubs. If you are looking for an active urban nightlife and the best spot for shopping, then Colombo is your place.

      The city also houses a massive park named after both Queen Victoria and Sri Lankan princes Vihara Maha Devi. Galle Face Green is the key tourist spot, and the situation along the island’s Western Coastline boasts some of the world’s best city sunsets. Enjoy the golden-orange sky dance tones of blue and purple as night begins to fall while sipping Margaritas.

      Later on, it’s the favourite time for shopaholics. With several shopping complexes, enjoy shopping for souvenirs in the capital city. Shopping in Colombo includes options like Majestic City, Liberty Plaza, Crescat Boulevard, ODEL, and Arina. For bargain hunters, Pettah Bazaar is a lively area offering everything from clothes to souvenirs at competitive prices.
