Overview

The Markha Valley Trek is one of the renowned treks in Ladakh. It invites adventurists nationally and internationally. The Markha Valley Trek moves across destinations with diverse sceneries. During the Markha Valley Trek, when the travelers arrive at the Hemis National Park and Rumbak Valley, they will get the chance to observe rare species of animals including Snow Leopard.     Day By Day Itinerary

      Delhi - Leh (Complete Rest in Leh for acclimatization)

      Take your flight to arrive at Leh. When you reach Leh, our representatives will take you to the hotel or guest house. Sign in to hotel / guest house and take rest. It is a perfect time for you to be comfortable with the climate. Then, you can have an overnight stay at the hotel / guesthouse.

      Leh - Shey - Thiksey - Hemis

      After breakfast, we will make a move for a sightseeing trip to some monasteries here. The travelers can visit Shey Gompa. Shey Gompa was the summer capital of Ladakh kings in the olden days. Thiksey Gompa is one of the most fine-looking structures in Ladakh. The well-known Hemis Monastery seen here belongs to Drukpa Order. We will return to the guest house for an overnight stay in the evening.

      Leh - Spituk (drive) - Trek to Zingchan (3200 mts / 10496 ft)

      On the 3rd day of our trip, we will trip to Spituk. The travelers can explore Spituk Gompa here and it is supposed to be 500 years old. We will start our trek after visiting Spituk. During our trek, we will pass through a bridge and Indus River. Finally, we will get to Zingchan Village. We will have an overnight stay in camp.

      Zingchan - Yurutse (3900 mts / 12792 ft) via Rumbak

      Today, after breakfast, we will trek to Rumbak from Zingchan. We will trek through Rumbak Nala and will reach at Yurutse Village. Yurutse Village is packed with lush fields of potatoes and barley. We will have an overnight stay in the tents.

      Yurutse - Skiu (3100 mts / 10168 ft) via Ganda La

      We will conclude our trekking once we reach Skiu. We can reach at Skiu once we cross Reach Ganda La. Reach Ganda La is spread over 4900 meters. It offers amazing view of Zanskar Range and other far-flung mountains of Himalaya. You can look at the village of Shingo. At Skiu, the travelers can see the coming together of river from Markha Valley. Then, we will have an overnight stay in the tents.

      Skiu - Markha (3800 mts / 12464 ft)

      Today, we will move from Skiu to Markha Valley. The trekking trail moves across a number of streams. We will have an overnight stay in the tents.

      Markha - Thochuntse

      We will have a trekking from Markha to Thochuntse today. At Markha, you can find change in landscape. From Markha to Thochuntse you will not have the view of forest and can see rocky landscape. The travelers will cross river and come upon Hankar on the way to Thochuntse. Hankar is said to be premier village in Markha Valley. We will have an overnight stay in the tents.

      Thochuntse - Nimaling (4700 mts / 15416 ft)

      On the 8th day, we will trek to Nimaling. During the trekking, we will move across many slopes and a series of flat ridges. We will get through Mani Walls and Chortens. During the trekking, you will get the chance to explore most dazzling high valleys in Ladakh which is alienated by Kangyatse Peak. We will have an overnight stay in the tents.

      Nimaling - Kongmaru La (5150 mts / 16892 ft) - Sumdo

      Today, we will move across Markha and go up to Kongmaru La. Kongmaru La is the premier passes in the area and spreads over 5306 meters. You can see snowy peaks and Karakoram Range here. Then, we will move to the Martselang Valley. You can get through Martselang Stream and finally will get to the Sumdo Village. We will have an overnight stay in the tents.

      Sumdo - Hemis (4 Hrs trek) - Leh

      Today, we will start trekking from Sumdo Village. Our aim is to arrive at Martselang. At Martselang Valley, the trail expands to the Indus Valley. From Martselang Village, we shall get into the jeep. Then we will travel around Hemis Monastery. We will drive to Leh through Thiksey and Shey Gompas. We will have an overnight stay in the hotel.

      Today, we will move to the airport to catch the flight to Delhi.
