Ireland to Delhi

Depart Dublin or Cork on an evening or late-night flight and connect through a Gulf hub or London. Most travellers land at Indira Gandhi International around dawn. A ground representative meets the group at arrivals, hands over local SIMs and a printed itinerary, and drives you to a rested check-in hotel in South or Central Delhi. The rest of the day is deliberately unstructured—nap, slow lunch, and a light evening walk in Khan Market or Lodhi Gardens. Dinner is a rooftop first taste of tandoor and dal. Delhi to Jaipur via Amber Fort

After breakfast, the drive to Jaipur runs about five hours on the Delhi-Jaipur expressway with a coffee halt at Behror. Reach the Pink City by lunchtime and head straight to Amber Fort; the jeep ride up the ramp saves the group from the midday climb. The main market street is closed to vehicles. Pushkar is vegetarian and alcohol-free by tradition, and dinner is a slow rooftop meal with views over the temple domes as evening aarti bells drift across the water.

Pushkar to Jodhpur

The drive from Pushkar to Jodhpur runs about four-and-a-half hours with a lunch halt at a heritage stopover. Reach the Blue City by mid-afternoon and check into a haveli or a fort-view heritage hotel. The evening walk starts at the clock tower and Sardar Market, spirals through the indigo-washed lanes of the old town, and ends at Toorji Ka Jhalra, the restored eighteenth-century stepwell. Sunset over Mehrangarh from the Chokelao Bagh viewpoint is the day’s set piece. Dinner is a rooftop meal with the fort lit up in the background. Umaid Bhawan Palace upgrades are possible for milestone occasions.

Jodhpur Fort and Bishnoi Villages

Mehrangarh opens at nine and takes about two-and-a-half hours with a guide, covering the Phool Mahal, the palanquin galleries, and the ramparts overlooking the blue town. Add Jaswant Thada, the marble memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh, on the way down. Lunch is at a local Marwari kitchen with kachori and dal-bati-churma if the group is up for it. The afternoon runs a Bishnoi village jeep safari, visiting a potter, a weaver, and a Bishnoi family that opens their home for tea; blackbuck and chinkara sightings are common. Jodhpur to Jaisalmer

The long drive west to Jaisalmer runs about five-and-a-half hours across increasingly open desert country. A lunch halt at Pokhran breaks the road nicely. Check into a heritage haveli inside the fort walls or a boutique property below. The evening walk starts at the Fort Palace entrance and threads through Patwon Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli, two of the finest sandstone-carved merchant houses in the state. Sunset from Gadisar Lake with the fort in the distance is a photograph most Irish travellers keep. Dinner is on a haveli rooftop with folk musicians.

Sam Sand Dunes Desert Night

The morning is slow: unhurried breakfast, a walk through the fort for temple and Jain-carving visits, and a stop at Kuldhara, the abandoned Paliwal village. After a late lunch and rest, the group drives out to Sam Sand Dunes, roughly forty kilometres west of Jaisalmer, arriving before the dunes light up in gold. A short camel ride, cold drinks on the dunes, sunset from a high crest, and a Rajasthani folk performance follow. Overnight is at a fixed luxury tented camp with attached bathrooms and hot showers, not a temporary tourist camp. Dinner is a slow multi-course Rajasthani meal under the open sky.

Jaisalmer to Udaipur

The shortest route from Jaisalmer to Udaipur is a one-hour flight via Jaipur or Delhi. The alternative is a long drive of about eleven hours, only recommended with an extra night in Ranakpur or Kumbhalgarh en route. Assuming the flight, the group lands in Udaipur by afternoon, checks into a lakeside heritage hotel, and takes a slow boat ride on Lake Pichola at golden hour with a stop at Jag Mandir island. Dinner is on a haveli terrace with Taj Lake Palace floating on the water in the background. Upgrades to Taj Lake Palace itself are possible subject to availability.

Udaipur and Onward to Ireland

The morning covers the City Palace complex, still partly a royal residence, with the Crystal Gallery and vintage car museum as add-ons. Add the Jagdish Temple across the road and Saheliyon Ki Bari gardens if time allows. Lunch is a lakeside cafe meal, then transfer to Udaipur airport for the domestic flight back to Delhi. The international connection to Dublin, Cork, or Shannon typically departs late night from Delhi via a Gulf hub or London, landing in Ireland by mid-morning the next day. The trip closes with enough surplus stories, textiles, and gemstone parcels to keep dinner-party conversations going all winter.
