Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1
Arrival in Bengaluru from Sweden
Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) is the softest South India entry point for a Swedish flyer, since Qatar Airways and Emirates both run smooth connections from Arlanda via Doha or Dubai. On arrival, our representative meets you at the arrivals gate with a name-board, hands over the SIM card and welcome kit, and drives you to a heritage or business hotel in central Bengaluru. Given most Nordic flights land in the early hours, the day is kept intentionally light: check-in, breakfast, a few hours of rest, and an optional afternoon walk through Cubbon Park or MG Road. Evening is free for a relaxed South Indian thali. Overnight in Bengaluru.

DAY 2
Bengaluru to Mysuru
After breakfast, the private vehicle heads southwest on the Bengaluru to Mysuru Expressway, a smooth three-hour drive across the Karnataka plateau. Along the way, there is an optional stop at Srirangapatna, the historic island fort of Tipu Sultan, where the Ranganathaswamy temple and Daria Daulat Bagh summer palace give a quick sense of pre-colonial South Indian history. Arrival in Mysuru is around lunch, followed by check-in at a heritage property such as the Royal Orchid Metropole or a comparable 4-star hotel. The afternoon is reserved for Mysore Palace, best seen close to sunset when the illumination begins. Evening free for the Devaraja Market. Overnight in Mysuru.

DAY 3
Mysuru to Ooty via Bandipur
The route from Mysuru to Ooty runs through the Bandipur and Mudumalai forest reserves, a scenic four-hour drive with realistic chances of spotting spotted deer, wild elephant, and occasionally gaur along the road. The vehicle climbs steadily from 700 to over 2200 metres, so the temperature drop is noticeable within two hours, especially welcome for Swedish travellers used to mountain roads back home. Arrival in Ooty is by early afternoon, followed by check-in at a colonial-era hotel like Savoy or Fern Hill. The afternoon is planned around the Government Botanical Garden and Ooty Lake. Evening tea at a heritage tea room caps the day. Overnight in Ooty.

DAY 4
Ooty and Coonoor
A full day in Ooty gives space for the parts of the Nilgiris that need unhurried time. The morning starts with the UNESCO-listed Nilgiri Mountain Railway from Ooty to Coonoor, an hour-long descent through tea plantations and eucalyptus forest that reliably ranks among the best South Indian rail experiences for European travellers. Coonoor itself offers Sim’s Park, Dolphin’s Nose viewpoint, and Highfield Tea Estate for a working-plantation tour and cardamom-flavoured tea tasting. Return to Ooty by late afternoon. An optional Emerald Lake picnic is added with a packed lunch. Evening free for shopping at Charring Cross. Overnight in Ooty.

DAY 5
Ooty to Munnar
The transfer from Ooty to Munnar takes six to seven hours through the Palakkad Gap into Kerala, with the vehicle crossing the Tamil Nadu to Kerala state border and running briefly along the fringes of the Anaimalai forest belt. This is the longest driving day of the trip, so an early start is scheduled with a packed hotel breakfast. Mid-way lunch is taken at a Kerala-style vegetarian restaurant near Udumalpet. Arrival in Munnar is by late afternoon, followed by check-in at a resort like SpiceTree, The Panoramic Getaway, or a comparable tea-estate property. Evening is deliberately kept low-key for rest. Munnar sits at 1600 metres; hotel wood fires are lit through December and January. Overnight in Munnar.

DAY 6
Munnar Tea Estates and Eravikulam
Munnar’s tea landscape is best explored across a full day rather than compressed into a half-day. The morning covers Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, with the option of an early park entry to avoid crowds. This is followed by the Tata Tea Museum at Nallathanni Estate, where the black tea production process is walked through step by step with a live demonstration. Lunch is at a plantation restaurant. The afternoon covers Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, and Kundala Lake, all within an hour’s drive of Munnar town. Evening is reserved for an optional Kalaripayattu martial arts show. Overnight in Munnar.

DAY 7
Munnar to Thekkady
The drive from Munnar to Thekkady is a compact three-hour transfer through the Cardamom Hills, one of the most scenic road sections of the entire route. Check-in is at a wildlife lodge or heritage plantation stay in the Kumily buffer zone. The afternoon covers the Periyar Tiger Reserve boat safari on Periyar Lake, a 90-minute cruise where herds of Indian elephant, wild boar, and Sambar deer are regularly sighted from the water. An alternative nature walk with a forest department guide can be substituted for the boat safari. Evening is reserved for a Kathakali dance performance at the Mudra Cultural Centre with a pre-show explanation of the makeup and mythology. Overnight in Thekkady.

DAY 8
Thekkady to Alleppey Houseboat
The morning transfer to Alleppey runs four hours through the Kerala midlands, passing rubber plantations, rice paddies, and small canal villages. On arrival at the Alleppey backwater jetty around noon, check-in is directly onto a private one-bedroom kettuvallam houseboat with an onboard chef and boatman. The houseboat cruises the Vembanad Lake channels for the rest of the afternoon, weaving past Chinese fishing nets, coir villages, and small toddy shops. Freshly prepared Kerala lunch and dinner are served onboard, including local karimeen pearl-spot fish and vegetarian avial. The houseboat anchors at a quiet channel by nightfall, with silent star-lit views. Overnight on the houseboat.

DAY 9
Alleppey to Fort Kochi
The houseboat returns to the Alleppey jetty by 9 am after breakfast onboard. The private vehicle then transfers you to Fort Kochi, a 90-minute drive along the coastal Kerala highway. Check-in is at a heritage boutique property in Fort Kochi such as Brunton Boatyard or Old Harbour Hotel, both overlooking the Arabian Sea. The afternoon is a walking tour of Fort Kochi covering St. Francis Church (where Vasco da Gama was originally buried), the Dutch Palace at Mattancherry, Jew Town, the Paradesi Synagogue, and the Chinese fishing nets at Vasco da Gama Square at sunset. Evening includes a full Kathakali performance with English pre-show narration. Overnight in Fort Kochi.

DAY 10
Departure from Kochi to Sweden
The final morning is kept flexible around the departure flight. Most Qatar Airways return legs from Kochi (COK) to Stockholm route back through Doha and land at Arlanda by early evening the same day, so a morning check-out around 10 am works cleanly. For guests with afternoon flights, a short spice bazaar walk in Mattancherry or a coffee at a Fort Kochi cafe fills the gap comfortably. Our representative handles hotel checkout, luggage support, and airport transfer to COK, roughly 45 minutes away. At the airport, a short assistance walk-through covers duty-free, boarding, and any last-minute currency exchange. Trip concludes.
