Arrival at Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri, onward journey to Kalimpong (79 Kms), a three hour drive.

You can either arrive at Bagdogra by flight or reach Jalpaiguri by train. After reaching Bagdogra/Jalpaiguri you will be greeted by our representatives and subsequently be taken to Kalimpong, for overnight stay which is the ideal location of your 9 Days Splendours of the East tour package.

Note: There are two exit gates at Jalpaiguri station. The clients are requested to come to the main gate where our representatives will be waiting with placards.

Tour of Kalimpong and onward journey to Gangtok (85 Kms), a three hour drive.

In the morning you will be taken for a tour of Kalimpong. Later in the afternoon you will be proceeding to Gangtok, a picturesque and awe-inspiring view is sure to take your breath away. On arrival you will check into the hotel for overnight stay.

Gangtok

In the morning you will be taken for a tour of the city. You will visit the major landmarks and buildings such as Do Drul Chorten, the Enchey Monastery, which has sacred gold-topped shikhara with 108 prayer wheels. The monastery has an orchid sanctuary, having more than 200 varieties of finest orchids. If you visit it during April-May you can see it in full bloom.
You can also see young Lamas training and worshipping at Chorten. Later you will visit the Enchey Ancient Monastery which is more than 200 years old and still retains most of its grandeur and shine. From this spot you can see one of the best views of the Kanchenjunga range the much awaited destinations of your 9 days Splendours of Northeast tour package.
The rest of the day is free for you to immerse in and enjoy the local culture. You can visit the traditional music show and indulge in other activities of your own. The overnight stay is arranged at Gangtok.

Gangtok

You will be taken to the Thangu Lake for a half day excursion. The average depth of the lake is around 50 feet. The lake freezes completely in winter and is a beautiful sight in perfect harmony with the scenic beauty around. It is considered holy by the locals. You can enjoy a Yak ride around the lake and immerse yourself in the beauty around. You can obtain the permit to visit the Tshangu Lake in Gangtok itself.

You can shop the rest of the day. There are a lot of local shops selling beautiful handicrafts, silver jewelry, trinkets, aromatic spices etc. The overnight stay is arranged at Gangtok.

Journey to Pelling (117 Kms), 4 Hrs drive.

In the morning you will be travelling to Pelling and visiting the Rumtek Monastery along the way. This monastery exhibits Tibetan monastic art and is known for its unique traditional architecture, beautifully carved and painted woodwork, and splendid murals.
After arriving at Pelling you will check in your hotel. The rest of the day is reserved for your leisure activities.

Pelling

A half day sightseeing tour to visit Khecheopalri Lake is arranged on this day. Also known as the wishing Lake, this lake is considered very sacred by both Buddhists and Hindus. No water sports or other activities apart from prayer are allowed around the lake. The lake is surrounded by a lush blooming forest and is a sight to behold. The rest of the day is free for leisure activities.
The overnight stay is arranged at Pelling.

Journey to Darjeeling (75 Kms), Approx. 2 Hrs and 30 Mins drive.

In the morning you will visit the Pelling Monastery. Then you will be driven to Darjelling, the famous Victorian Hill station. On arrival you will check in your hotel.

The rest of the day is free for your independent activities and exploring the hill station.
Overnight stay is arranged at Darjeeling.

Darjeeling

A tour to Tiger Hills (8364 ft) is arranged at around 4 AM. The sunrise view over Kanchenjunga Peak is mesmerizing. The primitive forests of Oak, Magnolia etc laden with colorful ferns is very beautiful sight. With the rising sun casting beautiful hues entire place looks like out of a fairy tale.
After this you will be taken to Ghoom monastery and some other places of interest on the way back from the tiger hills.
The rest of the day is free for your independent activities. You can explore the local markets which are filled with Tibetan and Himalayan artifacts. The overnight stay is arranged at Darjeeling.

Depart from Darjelling, back to Bagdogra/ Jalpaiguri (94 Kms), a three hour drive.

This is the last day of yours 9 days Splendours of North East tour package. You will be taken back to Bagdogra/ New Jalpaiguri for your return flight/train.
